Statement VeryGames :
Today we will be addressing and opening the discussion to tournament organisers as well as VALVE regarding the creation of a coherent and harmonized cycle of maps.
Indeed, the current situation with the introduction of de_mirage (VALVE's version) to replace de_mirage_ce or both versions de_train (VALVE) and de_train_ve (Volcano) causes a lot of confusion and a real disappointment for many players.
We fully support the idea that the proposed match making maps are similar to those played at high level in all tournaments. For the sake of the community, we believe that it is important to acknowledge your input upon this matter.
By reading through community websites, we found out that the opinion of the players does not vary so much, regardless of the level of skill they are playing at.
Concerning the case of mirage, we can say easily that the vast majority of the competitive scene is against the introduction of VALVE's release. The community version is one of the most played maps on tournaments because it is clean, bright and it offers significant tactical possibilities. We did not want to denounce this map before we even had the chance to play on it, but we could tell rather quickly that the map does not offer the same comfort and the same tactical possibilities that mirage_ce version does.
Similarly, we believe that the opinion of the community should be considered on maintaining decorative elements that we challenge a competitive point of view, the presence of chickens on de_inferno or fog on most VALVE maps.
We appeal to VALVE and organisers to implement the means necessary to set a map cycle coherent and common to the entire competitive scene, as fast as possible.
Cheers, Team VeryGames
Kurze Zeit später gaben auch die Copenhagen Wolves auf ihrer Facebook-Page ein Statement zu der neuen Regelung ab. Dabei betonen sie, dass sie mit VeryGames einer Meinung sind.
Statement Copenhagen Wolves :
We therefore feel that it is in the best interests of the community for all parties involved in the recent joint agreement to favour de_mirage over de_mirage_ce to revert back to the usage of the later.
We also share Team VeryGames' concerns regarding the other issues surrounding Valve's official maps such as the lack of visibility due to fog particles, in-game performance deterioration, as well as the distraction of non-static props.
The CS:GO community showed tremendous spirit in raising $250,000 for the forthcoming DreamHack Winter tournament and with that in mind we feel that it is only logical for their voice to be heard on matters such as this.
